There are two main types of search engine marketing: organic search engine optimization (SEO) and paid search engine advertising (PPC).
Organic SEO is the process of optimizing a website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) without paying for placement. This can be accomplished by optimizing the content, structure, and on-page elements such as titles, metatags, and anchor text on the website.
Paid search advertising is the process of bidding on keywords and phrases in order to have your ads displayed when someone searches using those keywords. The term “pay-per-click” or PPC refers to the fact that you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
